Prayer #51: For Universities and Colleges During the Coronavirus Crisis
At this point during the Coronavirus crisis, there is still considerable uncertainty on the part of universities and colleges regarding whether or not they will be opening in the fall for on-campus learning. Consequently, students who have applied are also up in the air about whether they will be going this fall, or if they even should go if the campus is open. And, many parents are reluctant to send their children, even if facilities are open, without a vaccine for COVID-19 in place. In addition, the economic downturn from the Coronavirus crisis has greatly depleted the savings of many parents, making them reluctant to commit to the high cost of a semester.
Social distancing can be difficult to maintain in a university setting. Many believe that most colleges and universities may choose to play it safe, for at least the fall, and continue with the online learning that enabled students to finish the winter/spring semester of this year.
Pray for colleges and universities across the country who are in the process of making decisions concerning whether or not to open on campus in the fall. Ask the Lord to provide wisdom to each administration as it wrestles with what is safe, responsible, and necessary. Pray that in the next month or so, there will be sufficient clarity regarding the conditions surrounding the COVID-19 virus and any continuing necessary restrictions so that definitive decisions can be made for each college and university across the states. Continue to pray for God to move at these centers of higher learning through God's humbling process that has come through this crisis.
Prov . 18:10: "The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and is safe."
